Welsh Hutch and Buffet Woodworking Plan

Shown left is our Hunt Board Buffet with Welsh Hutch on top. The two make a handsome Welsh Dresser for the kitchen or dining room.

By itself, the Hunt Board Buffet is a very attractive sideboard or buffet with a large drawer in the center and a smaller one at each side. The scrolled rails and turned posts are typical of traditional styling, but can be easily altered for a modern feel.

Adding the hutch makes this unit perfect for someone who would prefer an open faced display for china, pewter, or glassware. There are no doors or glass. Eight tiny storage drawers on the face of the hutch let you hold small items like candles or silverware. Shelves call for grooving which allows for the display of plates. As weill the Buffet, the traditional styling can be easily altered by differing scrollwork.

Joinery is shown in actual size while curved workpieces are all in full size. You can measure and trace straight from the drawing. Includes A bill of materials which doubles as an exact cutting list, a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is also included and provides many tips explaining the “component theory” of woodworking.
